Just bought this skate a week ago, and have taken them to the rink twice now. They are WAY better than the rental skates - super comfortable, and they skate like a dream. Only a couple of words of caution to those who are new to recreational/speed skates. All I ever used to skate were rentals, and most were far from new. Be careful with these when you first start with them - the wheels are a lot slicker and faster than any rental, so take it easy the first few times. Other than that, they're outstanding! True to sizing (I wear a women's 9, and ordered the men's 8 - perfect fit!), EXTREMELY comfortable, and skate so well I could hang with some of the roll bouncers at my local rink. Couldn't have asked for a better first pair. Service from SkateMall was also excellent. Ordered these on a Monday, received them on Friday (UPS Ground Shipping from TX to VA), and you can call and get your UPS tracking number after you order (customer service was very helpful!). Only other thing is, you might want to check with your home rink before adding the black brakes - most rinks don't allow black brakes or plugs. I had to change mine out the first time I took them to the rink (about $4, no big deal). Definitely would recommend these skates and SkateMall to anyone looking for a good starter speed or recreational skate.
